M82A1A Posted June 19, 2007 #1 Share Posted June 19, 2007 My wife and I will be in Cococay in a few weeks and were wondering if we were able to bring our own snorkling equipment with us. If we do bring our own equipment, can we swim by the sunken plane?
Catsway Posted June 20, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 20, 2007 We have been to CocoCay three times and we are advid snorkelers. Yes, bring your own gear. Try to get out early before the vis gets messed up. Find a lounger near the water just past the snorkel booth that RCCL operates. From there you can walk directly from the beach and head out towards the lifeguard stand in the water. There is some coral near the water's edge so wear water shoes. About 25-30 yards to the left of the lifeguard stand you'll find the sunken airplane and the sunken "fort". Take some dog biscuits to feed the fish. Enjoy the buffet. Also, you can circumvent the developed part of CocoCay if you walk clockwise around the beach trail. Its a pretty walk and you can see some of the "behind the scenes" area. We return there this October on the SOS and can't wait. Wayne and Cathi Miramar Beach, Fl.
kirbmeister Posted June 20, 2007 #3 Share Posted June 20, 2007 Just remember if you do not have your own vest they will make you rent one.
ghageman91 Posted July 8, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 8, 2007 Do they let you rent the vest only for a discounted rate or make you pay the entire 25 bucks?
alphakitty Posted July 10, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 10, 2007 You can rent the vest by itself for $6.00. The cost for an adult for all snorkeling equip is $29.
