Whale Watching in the Icy Strait

Can anyone recommend a good whale watching company to use in the Icy Strait? I would prefer not to book with the cruise line as I would like a more personalized experience. Is the Icy Strait a good place to view whales or should I stick with Juneau? There are so many great excursions in Juneau that I would like to keep that day open for other experiences. Thoughts or recommendations?

The best whale watching we have done in two trips to Alaska was from our balcony while anched at ICP. A group of whales were bubble feeding all afternoon about 1/2 mile from the ship.

 

Check with Keith at Tek Outfitters at teckk@hoonah.net. We went halibut fishing thru him last year, but I believe he also does whale watching or can tell you who would be best.:)
