rubens Posted October 22, 2007 #54 Share Posted October 22, 2007 As Azamara changed the menus a few weeks ago, I was wondering if anyone has copies of the new menus in DR Also did they change the Aqualina and Prime C menus?

Napi's Mom Posted January 31, 2008 #65 Share Posted January 31, 2008 I hope you return to post here for all to read. I would like to know if the main dining room is open for lunch ON PORT DAYS as well as sea days. We don't generally enjoy buffets. We want the service and ambience of the dining room for all meals. The dining room is NOT open on Port days as already stated. My suggestion to you is to dine in your cabin, as your "butler" will serve you a nice meal ,I guess according to others. You order from a card you get service from your butler, off the TV interactive, room service delivers, not as intimate but we were satisfied. Actually we ate daily on the Aft deck of the buffet except when ashore, the nice sunshine and fresh air was wonderful, watching the port bustle about you (Some aren't so lovely admittedly, container ships abound). The food and atmosphere is fine in Windows, as this IS a small ship and not somany people:)
gillianrose Posted January 31, 2008 #66 Share Posted January 31, 2008 The dining room is NOT open on Port days as already stated. According to Azamara/Celebrity' date=' there is no policy or practice to close the dining rooms on port days on either line. The Captain of the vessel can decide to close the dining room at whim, but other than that, they state that the dining room will be open on port days as well as sea days. TMy suggestion to you is to dine in your cabin, as your "butler" will serve you a nice meal ,I guess according to others. You order from a card you get service from your butler, off the TV interactive, room service delivers, not as intimate but we were satisfied. The food and atmosphere is fine in Windows, as this IS a small ship and not somany people:) You may have been satisfied, and your stateroom may have been large and had a high table, but we would not be satisfied with lunch service in our cabin as a rule. It is simply not the same, nor is lunch likely to be course by course in one's stateroom. Also, many people have made comments that the "butlers" aren't really more than "glorified room stewards," though I haven't had the experience and don't know. We enjoy meeting a variety of people during open seating in the dining room (not at the casual buffet tables) for breakfast and lunch, and in-room dining would also not satisfy that preference. Occasionally, at OUR choice, as an option, we might like to dine outside aft, but the weather would have to be very pleasant, and choice seating available. Al fresco dining is wonderful when there is table service, but getting up and down for drinks, juggling trays, etc. is not enjoyable. Nor is it what we pay for when we cruise. However, a friend of mine has suggested that since it probably costs the cruise line less to open only the buffet, the cruise line may be "testing the waters" so to speak to see if the cruising public really doesn't care. If few complain, then another nice aspect of cruising will go away, but the prices won't drop. So, if you care, as we do, speak up!

fcombs Posted February 13, 2008 #68 Share Posted February 13, 2008 I'll stop the circulation here. Hopefully one of you will figure out a way to post a legible font for us old folks with bad eyes! :-) nlvc The font is not the problem - it looks like these were scanned and compressed to a size that cannot be viewed easily. When a document is scanned it is saved in a graphic format - usually either gif or jpg.
YHZcruiser Posted March 11, 2008 #69 Share Posted March 11, 2008 Would Pachecos still be able to email menus, please? To fergus.com@ns.sympatico.ca Planning on a cruise on Journey (Sept. 27, Barcelona return) and I am curious about the food. Can you also give me an idea about prices for a glass of wine/drinks at bars and average prices for wine in the dining room? Many thanks!
rubens Posted March 12, 2008 #70 Share Posted March 12, 2008 As I was on the Quest last month I can tell you that in spite of what some others say, drinks are not that expensive but you have to make the right choice. If you look at the bar list you'll see that they only mention specialty cocktails most priced at $ 8.- but if you order regular cocktails like bloody mary or margarita or even rum/coke they only charge $ 6.- which is fair for us. Also their Martini list offers specialties at about 11.- but regular martinis are around 8 or 9.-. So all depends of what you order. Do not only order from bar list. For wines they charge 7 tot 10.- a glass. But we never ordered glasses. I always buy a full bottle (starting at 25.-) and with 6 to 7 glasses in a bottle it makes it much cheaper. You can always buy a bottle before dinner and take it with you to the restaurant or to your room to finish it later. So again think before ordering. The wine list is good but I must say that below 30.- they don't have much choice but they have. Hope this helps and I'm sure you'll have a nice cruise on this wonderful ship.

malcliz Posted July 13, 2008 #74 Share Posted July 13, 2008 Please could somebody explain what a "tasting" menu is? Do they comprise of several small "tasting" courses (such as Sabatinis on Princess?). Also I saw mention of "wine pairing" for $30. Is that where they select different wines to go with the tasting menu?? Thanks for your help. We are booked on Quest next summer.

There is one Azamara cruise that fits the bill quite nicely. Thank you for posting the cocktail prices. We were just on RCI's Navigator and the prices you quote are in line with those of RCI. A pleasant surprize. :) 2P.P1
