Catmjs Posted July 5, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2007 I saw a posting for the NCL beer helmets....can anyone tell me how they cost and is it for all types of beer? Thanks
Rare CTCruisers Posted July 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 5, 2007 You get 6 beers for the price of 5 plus a $5.00 refundable deposit charge. We were able to mix up the 6 beers with each order as long as they were from the same price point. (i.e. 3 Buds and 3 Bud lights or 3 Heinekens and 3 Coronas) The only beer they would not let me order were 6 Foster oil cans.
Rare kodos Posted July 5, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 5, 2007 They are the best deal on the boat. I think they are a $5 deposit. You can keep the helmet for $5 if you choose but I am not sure why you would. Different boats run different specials at different times for what is the best deal on beer but you can get any bottled beer put in it. My last cruise on the Jewel they were pushing Dos Equis. It was buy 5 get one free and every helmet full you got a Dos Equis t-shirt or hat. Not a huge savings but it is something. The other advantage is that even though the bar staff is overly attentive you will always have a refill.
donnaleed Posted July 5, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2007 Does anyone recall what the cost is for the beer helmet? We are trying to get an idea of how big the beer budget should be! :)
Rare CTCruisers Posted July 5, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 5, 2007 I think we were paying $20 for every 6 of bud lights. And for most imports, I think it was $24.50. Also, check out the freestyles for "2 for 1" specials in the casino. We would go down and pick up a dozen beers and bring them up to our fridge for the next day. The 2 for 1 in the casino is a great deal but only good for domestic beer. No Cornona or Bass :( The cost is simple six beers for the price of 5 - domestic $3.95 X 5 = $19.75 plus 15% tip. Import $4.50 x 5 = 22.50 plus 15% tip.
blitheone Posted July 5, 2007 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2007 Aw geez, y'know, I saw "beer helmet" and my first, horrified thought was "Ohdeargodinheaven, NCL is selling those beer dispenser helmets with the drinking tubes----Freestyle is out of control!!!" Upon reading, I am relieved. Janet

tony@stanton19.freeserve. Posted July 5, 2007 #9 Share Posted July 5, 2007 We have just returned from the Dream, and I used to order six beers when I went into the bar in the evening. They would serve them as needed, running a tab, then was charged as per the helmet at the end of the night. No beer helmet, so no deposit required. In fact one night they just had them sitting in an ice bucket for me. :D Great service when they know what you want to do.
kirindy Posted July 5, 2007 #10 Share Posted July 5, 2007 We just got off the Pearl. We were charged the deposit only once. For 6 Heinekens, it was $25.88 (without the deposit). We would take the rest to the room and put in the fridge!

MrLee Posted July 9, 2007 #13 Share Posted July 9, 2007 From the "other" beer thread What? No Labatt's??? ;) Oh well, as long as there's enough Red Stripe. :)
ripcurl2151 Posted July 9, 2007 #14 Share Posted July 9, 2007 i just got back from the crown and you can read my other post in a thread about the crown what i thought about the bar services. Like someone else said, it's $19.75 for "domestic" and $22.50 for "import". Import really just means premium beer though because sam adams was included in it also. I never heard anything about a $5 deposit for the helmet though. we ordered several helmets, but never had to put a deposit down. i didn't see any corona light, but they did have some labatts. i don't know where Shoreguy got that beer list from, but we had maybe a 1/4 of the selection on the crown and they were always out of something. real dissapointment
lallx4 Posted July 9, 2007 #15 Share Posted July 9, 2007 We just got back from being on the Majesty and a helmet of Imported beer was 22.50 . And you could mix your beers, like 3 Corona's & 3 Sam Adams. We didn't get charged a 5.00 fee. Sharon

mbisson Posted July 12, 2007 #18 Share Posted July 12, 2007 NCL can call a beer helmet whatever they like but here's what a beer helmet really is. It's best used hands free. GO SEAHAWKS
