Caye Caulker Beaches

I've seen by previous posts that the actual beaches are limited. Are the one available free to use?

Caye Caulker is not known for its beaches. Most people head to the "Split". The Split was created by Hurricane Hattie in 1961.

there is some sand, most people lay out on the piers.

The lazy Lizard bar is at the split.

Yes you can plant your self anywhere you like free of charge

How is the snorkeling and what is the easiest way to get there?

The snorkeling from the shore is great, not as good as a boat ride to the reef. there is a lot of fish and star fish right off the pier at the split.

 

the water taxi is about 1/3 mile walk from the ship. $15 round trip. Its about a 45 minute ride to Caye Caulker.

We saw several people snorkeling right off shore. I think you can see one in the 3rd pic. That was taken at the 'Split.' We actually were able to see fish as we just stood there! We had a blast on Caye Caulker and are looking at a land vacation there some day:)
