Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #28 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Day 4 St. Thomas Since we were not scheduled to dock til 10:00am, we slept in alittle and went to the dining room for breakfast. Pretty much the same food as the buffet except you could have real eggs and these cute little has browns. After breakfast we went back to the cabin to watch the scenery arriving in St. Thomas and get ready for Customs and debarkation. Beautiful sunrise to wake up to. These seagulls followed the ship all the way into port. People were throwing food and the seagulls would catch it in the air. U.S. Customs getting on the ship. Arriving in St. Thomas. Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #30 Share Posted July 6, 2007 The Carnival Liberty and the Glory were the only ships in port this day. We learned from our tour guide Godfrey, that this is the slow time for cruise ships. October thru March is their busy season. Lucky for us. Wasn't as crouded. Old ruins of forts. Amazing, out in the middle of the Caribbean you have these beautiful islands. Pulling into port. Seaplane taking off.
Sandi149 Posted July 6, 2007 #31 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Ohhhh Howdy777 you are bringing back such wondering memories of my cruise from last month. :D Keep those pictures coming!!!! :p
Sandi149 Posted July 6, 2007 #32 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Actually that picture of the boat right next to the ship isn't the US Customs at all. That's what I thought too. They are pilot boats. They sort of help the captain pull into the harbor. There was a whole thread on it here about a week or so ago. I also have that picture too. :p

ccartman2 Posted July 6, 2007 #34 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Great review. I loved the Glory when we were on it in February and I would like to the Eastern cruise some day in the future. There's just so many cruises and so little time to take them.
Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #35 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Better picture of seaplane. Going through Customs was not really that bad, it took about 45 minutes to get off the ship. They start calling first the passengers who booked excursions through Carnival. Then by decks. The non-U.S. citizens had to meet in the Amber Palace while the U.S. citizens went throught the line on the Promenade deck. The line moved really fast as they glanced at your papers and put your sail & sign card in the slot to validate you have been through Customs. We then took our papers back to the cabin and proceded to disembark. We were off the ship by 11:00 and there was Godfrey, our tour guide, waiting for us. Godfrey was really great and knew everything there was to know about his island. He was very concerned about every one of his passengers and wanted to make sure we had the best tour possible. For $25pp, he picked us up from the pier, took us downtown to shop til 12 noon, then we got back on his clean open air taxi and proceded on the tour of the island. Higher and higher we climbed up to the highest point on St. Thomas "The Mountain Top".
FloridaLaura Posted July 6, 2007 #36 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Thanks for taking time to do this wonderful review, we recently went to St. Thomas and St. Maarten on Caribbean Princess, and just booked a eastern itinerary on Carnival Glory!!! Beautiful Pics.
Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #37 Share Posted July 6, 2007 From the Mountain Top we had the most spectacular views of the island and Megan's Bay. Voted one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Coming down we got a good look at Mahogany Run golf course where President Clinton and Tiger Woods both have played. Then Godfrey dropped us off at the beach of your choice, either Coki or Sapphire. We chose Sapphire because of other reviews and were not disappointed. If you didn't want beach time, Godfrey either took you back to the ship or took you back downtown for more shopping. Sapphire beach. Plenty of shade if you didn't want sun. Lounge chairs were $7 dollars a day and they had restrooms, a small bar and snackshop. Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #40 Share Posted July 6, 2007 More Sapphire Beach. Good snorkling too. After about 2.5 hours of beach time, Godfrey picked us up and had us back at the ship by 4:30pm. We quickly showered and changed and headed back out to Havensight at the pier for more shopping. After shopping it was back on the ship for dinner in the dining room and out to our balcony for sail away. Was a great day. Chateaubran(?) for the DW and Grouper for me. Beautiful sail away. Sandi149 Posted July 6, 2007 #41 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Snorkeling was great but just as I was getting the hang of doing it, I cut my leg on a piece of coral and I had to get out of the water. Ohhhh did that burn....and for a couple days after also. :(
Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #42 Share Posted July 6, 2007 St. Thomas sail away. Beautiful but sad to leave. Almost a full moon. After sail away we were ready for the show. I think the magician performed that night. We ended the night with a slice of wonderful pizza and an ice cream cone. Day 5 St. Marten This was by far our favorite port. We were up early as we were due to dock at 8am. The sun on the water was awesome. I can't ever imagine taking another cruise without a balcony. Just to be able to step out of our cabin and see such beauty was incredible.

Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #45 Share Posted July 6, 2007 Almost docked. After docking we were off the ship by 8:15am for our 8:30 excursion to Little Divi Bay Beach. Other passengers waiting for their excursions to start. We were the only ship in port this day. How lucky were we!!!

Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #47 Share Posted July 6, 2007 We all jumped in our taxi's and were on our way to Little Divi Bay Beach. I just can't tell you how much we enjoyed this excursion. The beach was just incredible and since we were the only ship in port that day, it wasn't crowded at all. The water was so beautiful and clear and the snorkling was good too. Beautiful white sand. It doesn't get much better than this. The excursion included lunch which consisted of grilled hamburgers and hots with all the trimmings and 2 drinks of your choice. Howdy777 Posted July 6, 2007 Author #49 Share Posted July 6, 2007 My DW with her visor on. More Divi. At the beach, they had games and activities along with jet ski rentals and snorkeling. After 4 glorious hours of this gorgeous beach, we packed up and headed back to the ship.
