ArizonaRalphie Posted July 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2007 O.K., so here's the deal. We are headed to Cozumel in November and have a 6-1/2 hour layover in Miami, arriving at 6:30 AM. We'd like to leave the airport, have a nice breakfast somewhere, then return, rather than just sitting on our collective butts. Think this can be done? Any decent restaurants in the area? Maybe a "free" hotel shuttle to a decent breakfast. Thanks in advance. Ralph
donato Posted July 6, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2007 You could take a cab to the Denny's on Miracle Mile, a nice shopping street in nearby Coral Gables. The Hotel Sofitel has a nice restaurant and is very close to the airport, maybe they have a free shuttle.

Nothing personal, but Denny's doesn't quite make my list of top 1,000,000 places to have breakfast. I think I'll just give Sofitel a shot.

Ralph You can take a cab to either International Mall or Dolphin Mall a little later in the morning to get something to eat and maybe walk around a little before having to head back to the airport. Both malls are very close to airport. You may also want to check out the Airport hotel and see if they have any breakfast specials, located right on the airport property. The problem with the airport location is that its very industrial and not much to do within close range. You can also check out La Carreta in the airport for good Cuban Breakfast. If you want to have a place to walk around in you can hit Miracle Mile in Coral Gables and have breakfast at the Gables Diner: http://www.gablesdiner.com/ Then spend some time walking around the Gables area which has a lot of quaint and upscale shops before heading back to the airport. Breakfast starts at 8am.
murcielago Posted July 11, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2007 Head to the International Mall and have breakfast at La Carreta Restaurant. The Cafe con leche is really good. You may also want a little Cuban Coffee to lift you up. Enjoy
