When should I reserve a babysitter?

My wife and I are taking our daughters (5&3) on our 1st Disney Cruise in December (7 day Eastern). Wanted to know if there is a time prior to boarding the ship to reserve a baby sitter. Any insight?

I don't think you can reserve a babysitter on a DCL cruise. Your children will be old enough for the Oceaneers Club. Once you have paid in full, you can sign them up for the club online. The club is open from 9 am until 12 am with no breaks, and costs nothing extra ontop of your cruise fare. You can pick them up and drop them off as you wish.

NCmom is correct, there is no private babysitting onboard. The 5 year old will definitely be able to go to the Oceaneer Club (and have a great time there!!) But just be aware that in order for the 3 year old to participate in the kids' club, she will have to be completely potty-trained. That means knows when she needs to go by herself, goes by herself, and needs no assistance undressing or dressing in order to go.

If she is not fully potty-trained by then, you will be able to put her in Flounders for an extra cost (I believe it's $5 or $6 per hour) and you must have reservations (way) ahead of time. Hope this helps, so you know what to expect!

I read that you may reserve Nursery for ages 3 and under on Disney Cruise lines. I am traveling in September and my packet indicated that I can begin reserving Nursery for my 1 year old on July 9th (today). Perhaps the reservations are only for those children who will go to the Nursery. You can reserve up to 10 hours of time. Just go to the Disney website register and make sure that you have your confirmation number.
