We want to do the Austalia/New Zealand cruise as well as a tour to the GBR. In your oponion what would be the best month? When exactly is cyclone season? Thanks in advance as any and all information is appreciated.

It will be hot and sticky all of those months.

Bear in mind that all of january is also our "summer vacation" time so all schools will be out. Saying that january is not usually a prime time for us nsw people to venture that far north.

If you are going to be here in australia i say go but try more for march

We started our Australian / NZ tour in Sydney in mid-March of 06 - 5 days pre-cruise tour in Sydney and Cairnes. Unfortunately our GBR reef trip was washed out by Cyclone Larry - Princess flew us to Cairnes, we holed up in the Hilton for 1.5 days and then flew back to Sydney just in time to catch the Diamond. No GBR trip - guess we have to go back now to do that part of the trip again!

Aside from the Cyclone, we loved Cairnes - it's a great place.
