Port of Call transportation by RCCl

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know whether RccL provides shuttle service from ports of call to the major cities close by? Or just the nearest town from port? For example: from port in Santorini, Greece to closest city, or From port of Naples to Naples itself? We would like to not be required to do formal tours. As it is ,we are getting off the ship in the Florence port and rejoining in Rome port.

We took that cruise with Celebrity last summer and went out on our own each day. In Santorini we took the donkeys to the top where the town is - I've never laughed so hard in my life!! You can also take a cable car up. Once in town, we walked a little ways and took a city bus over to Oia, which is the most beautiful place in the world in my opinion. Took the bus again over to "the black beach" and then back to the ship. All very easy to do and soooo much cheaper than anything the ship offers.

In Naples, we walked about 20 minutes into the city and took a train out to Pompeii, checked it out for a couple hours then hopped back on the train to Sorrento for lunch. It was extremely hot that day and keep in mind that even when busses and trains say they have air conditioning, it's minimal.

Hope this helps and have a great time!!

Santorini - you always tender - and then catch cable car to the top. It is a small island - no concept of a 'city'

Naples - walk out of the portgates and you are in the town - 5 mins max.

Rome - RCL charge for a bus to the port gates - but there is a free bus too offered by the city that runs just as regularly

Livorno - you have to take the RCL cruise bus out of the port as the port is so huge - this is around $8pp - and it drops you in the main bus station in town

In Naples you are docked in the centre of town. The cruise terminal is next to the ferry terminal that has hydrofoils to Sorrento and Capri. Very easy.
