Live in Jax,FL - Want Caribb.Cruisefrom Ft. Laud or Miami. How best way Jax to Ship?

We live in Jacksonville, Florida and are trying to figure out how to coordinate a cruise to the East Caribbean Thanksgiving week 2007.

 

Since we want a 5 or 7-day East Caribbean Cruise, we've found we need to cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale or Miami. (Of course Port Canaveral is closest to us but those cruises tend to be W. Caribbean.) There are 4 of us going so we think we need to rent a van from Jacksonville to get to the ship. In otherwords, pick up a rental van from Jacksonville, and drop it off at the ship. (No one has a car big enough to fit 4 of us and our luggage.) But.....

 

My understanding is that we would have to go to the airport in the city of Port departure, then there is a free shuttle from the car rental drop off place to the ship?

 

Please give me some ideas on how to coordinate all this.
