Anyway- let me make this str8 to you...

Im 23 years old...No mommy and daddy do not pay for my activities... outta of the 4 cruises ive been on 2 were paid by my father because well i wasnt even 18 yet- other then that been on my own since then- ....

This is my FIRST time going to the bahamas... i always wanted to stay at the bahamas ATLANTIS-- but soooo expensive....--- if you going to go on vacation you have to go and live it to the fullest of your abilities--enjoy every second of it.. without going oh crap i cant do this i cant do that.. i hate that!!!!!---Im NOT getting a room at the atlantis--- and if i did you better bet your butt ill be in there just to check it out--- im sorry im 23 on vacation for a short cruise... THERE WILL BE NO NAPPING-...we got a room at the comfort suites for 240- its gross there- dirty room ... why would i want to go there???- Only reason why is because instead of paying 500 for the atlantis- your only paying 240- STEALLLL in my eyes little less then half- and you can enjoy everything in the atlantis.... all access!!! If your worried about 50 bucks in food then maybe you shouldnt go on vacation- or who cares go back to the boat its only a 10 min ride over there!!!!!! then go back --- and its not a merely "5 hours like you said---- its from 10AM - 6AM the next morning-- so you basically have ALL day- ... IM sorry but renting the room that im not going in IS NOT STUPID! ....

I understand you are there for 18 hours. but the day we are there is only 5 maybe 7 hours. NOT worth the cost of a hotel. That is downpayment on one person for my next cruise. we dock at 8 the shops open at 10, and we leave about 4. So to me, it is NOT WORTH IT. Plus, I have no desire to go to Atlants. I will stick with what I do, or go to the other hotel and have all access beach/pool etc for 15$ pp then go to Senor Frogs with our friends for dinner before heading to the ship to leave for our next port of call.

I am sailing on the Sensation to Nassau, but we don't have any interest in Atlantis. We also live near lots of fantastic water parks, and quite frankly I didn't see the attraction of Atlantis from just reading about it. But seeing those pictures... wow! It's beautiful. After seeing pics, I can totally understand wanting to spend your port day there. Still sticking with diving, though. :) (And by the way, your daughters are beautiful!)

Urbabie2, enjoy your cruise!

Thanks ;) :D

I did not say you were stupid for going to Atlantis, but stupid for paying that much for a room.

No we don't do excursiions because of the cost.

We are a limited income family. we don't have rich uncles or other family members paying our way. no child support, no aliamony, no personal income of anykind. I am on social security, and my DH makes just enough to cover the monthly bills.

Cruises come from our tax return. We don't do elaberate things on our cruises. Who said I sit on the ship????? NOT ME. I am just saying that to go that far to rent a room you will never see is stupid. At least go to the room and enjoy it for a little while.

But to each his own. If you feel that 240+ extra for the day is good money for something you won't see, plus the cost of food which will be about another 200 for your group if yo eat 2 meals there, plus all the drinks you will have to have so you dont dehydrat another 50$ then more power toyou.

I just don't see wasting that much money for nothing. I refuse to pay the 15$ pp just to get to atlantis.

Nassau is boring at best, even if you do go to atlantis. I personally can't stand that many people in such a small place. There is a lot of the town we have not seen because I refuse to put my life in the hands of the drivers there Can't cross the street without puting you life on the line. They don't stop for pedistrians, and personally, i don't need that.

I almost lost my life last year. In fact, the doctors said I should be dead. So it is a pleasure for me just to go and do the straw markets. I have seen another country. Learned of their culture just by looking around, and walked on the land.

That is worth the cruise to me.

If I were staying for a week I would consider a room. But not just to enjoy a water slide. Or a pool. Plus i pay that much for a room, you better believe, I will at least take a nap in it.

otherwise, it is OH you stayed at the Atlantis, how was the room. How was room service, How was the beds? i dont' know is most answers if you don't go in. we did not go in the room. Sorry. I have better things to do with my money.

Wow you ARE a bitter person aren't ya. I have no rich uncles, no one pays MY way. I am NOT on social security because I work for a living. So I MAKE the money I have. And I work very hard to get what we have.

I DO USE the room at Atlantis. My kids DO take a nap there if I can get them to settle down in all of the excitement. And we use it to get dressed and ready for the evening.

And please don't play the "whoa is me I'm ill" card with me. In our 20's my husband and I were BOTH diagnosed with the same life threatening chronic genetic illness that keeps us in and out of the hospital throughout the year. Our medical bills are stagering. I could choose to sit and complain how unfair it is that we were both dealt the same medical fate...but I choose to live MY life while I still have it to live.

And THAT means making the most out of EVERY vacation. And not judging others for their choices on how they spend theirs.

Happy cruising. It looks like you may need another soon to relax.

Congratulations fllady61 , by calling people stupid for not having the same vacation preference and priority as you, and then continuing to hammer that point home in post after post, you are now the Charter Member of Snorkel2Much's cruisecritic.com "ignore" list.

I would LOVE to go diving if I wasn't such a chicken. I watched the movie "Open Water" and that pretty much sealed my fate as a person who will remain firmly on solid ground and away from deep water. :o

Have a great time on Sensation! What month are you going?

urbabie, we LOVED the bahamas. we did a stewart cove private excursion, with the transportation included, 2 snorkel stops then swiming with the sharks:eek: Then we party at senior froggies until the ship leaves. You can walk there, stay together at night, but it is one wild party.

Appreciate you taking the high road with one of these posters, ignoring ignorance is the best way;). I think I have a link to some pictures on my signiture for the sensation cruise if you're interested.

have a great time

fl. lady.... adding you as well, there are many other options, expecially for someone who uses "God" in their posts, to get a point across without insulting others. The woe is me with poor health bit never entitles a person to treat others without respect.

bye bye:p

I head onto the Sensation in exactly 1 month :D . I want to hear all about it! this is our first cruise and I'm getting excited/nervous etc. Hearing other people's experiences, especially those that have recently been on it helps out a lot

Since we are flying in a day early, I just rented a car - Enterprise for total of $36. Cheaper than the shuttle. Now I just have to find transportation back to airport from terminal on Sun. If my friend goes too, she will drive in since she lives in Florida. If not...I am looking for a bargain. Let me know if you hear of anything cheaper than $30 pp.

Going on Sensation as well next week - you'll enjoy staying at Atlantis for the day - The CS option is a great deal if you can't get the room cheaper at Atlantis. My fam of 4 did the CS package this past May since I heard that the day passes were not always available and at least 100 each. Cost me $240 for 4. The rooms this past May were not less expensive or I would have opted for that. We all loved the water activities at Atlantis but are doing something different this time - we had a blast there - you'll enjoy it - have fun! Short cab ride worked well too! Only $4 per person back and forth to the ship and had a town car! :o Go Devils!

then taking cabs ($20 round trip for both) over to Atlantis and seeing the grounds, Casino, Mall and the Digs Aquarium for free....

Bill

We have been to Atlantis before. So, on our next trip 4 of us plan to get a room at CS and enjoy the pools. But, my mom and DS want to just tour around and do The Dig. Last time we were there, you had to pay like $25 (cant remember exact amount) just to get into The Dig. Is there another way? Or did I misread? Do you mean with your $15 day pass at the other place covers the entrance fee to The Dig?

Your pictures are great. We are thinking about booking the Stuart Cove excursion. Did you actually swim with the sharks? I read on the website that the sharks are way at the bottom and you are just snorkeling at the top, is that right? All your sharks look right at the top! ;)

I know you and I have talked before about your Sensation trip. Did you decide to go with the Cat 12? I know you were looking for pictures of it.

What day do you leave? We leave Sunday the 19th.

We did the Stuart Cove excursion a few years ago and had a great time. Yes, in theory the sharks are "at the bottom" and you are at the top but they slowly start to come up. That's when I decided to get out of the water! I don't know if the excursion is the same as when I did it but we had 3 snorkeling stops, so if the sharks aren't your thing, there were other really nice spots too! Watch out for the cocktails they serve on the way back. High octane...
