Bringing $$$$ into the ports

We are going to the western caribbean in January. This will be our 3rd cruise,but have never done water related activities. I'm assuming you bring cash for souvenirs, food, drinks, etc.. Where do you keep your money when doing the water excursions? :confused: Hopefully this doesn't sound like a dumb question.
