warmwinds Posted July 20, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2007 I have 2 sets of formal wear - winter and summer. Winter is velvet, etc., summer is obviously much lighter. Which would be more appropriate for the British Isles in late April/early May?
warmwinds Posted July 20, 2007 Author #2 Share Posted July 20, 2007 My related question is: I've mostly cruised the Caribbean - on northern European cruises, do they HEAT the public areas? I'm used to them being a/c'd.
Deb C. Posted July 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 21, 2007 Actually, isn't 72 degrees (in a dining room) the same summer or winter? :D
Druke I Posted July 21, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 21, 2007 Britain is still pretty cool in the spring, and they do tend to keep the interiors of the ship on the cool side, particularly in the dining rooms and show lounges. My wife always takes a "wrap", and I usually have a cardigan sweater or two available.
Ask4Jay Posted July 21, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 21, 2007 Before we discovered real cruising, we would rent houseboats on River Thames between London and Oxford. One time, in the cab from Heathrow to the boat yard, the radio weather forecast called for a high temperature of 75 F (in late June), upon which the cabbie responded: “It’s going to be a scorcher!” In other words, be prepared for cool rather than hot weather. warmwinds Posted July 21, 2007 Author #6 Share Posted July 21, 2007 Yes, 72 is 72, but it was an unspoken fashion question as well as a temperature one, April being sort of a transitional month.
