gatorjones Posted July 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2007 I don't think this is allowed, but I've had two seperate people tell me it was. My parents will be driving us to the terminal for embarkation, is there anyway they can "visit" on the ship and leave before it departs. If it matters, I am going on the Caribbean Princess leaving from Ft. Lauderdale on 11/25/2007. Thanks.
CruisePrincess575 Posted July 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2007 That is a negative. Used to happen but security today is so tight.....
dbdave Posted July 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2007 If you have an understanding TA they might be able to get you a 'ship inspection' where they can board, tour the ship and eat lunch before exiting prior to embarkation. The cruise lines do this for TA's to be able to know something about a ship without having sailed on it. This would probably be very difficult to get, but is possible. The ship inspection is for TA's...and even with a ship inspection the ship has to have all of your information quite a bit prior to the cruise. Cotton Posted July 26, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 26, 2007 My DIL owns a local agency. She often goes on FAM visits - to inspect ships. No one else is allowed to 'visit' ships. Clearance is done in advance and security these days is understandably tight. Years ago, this was common practice for folks seeing passengers off. I have done it several times - toured the ship, had lunch, etc. when seeing friends off. No longer.
Deloresgardella Posted July 29, 2007 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2007 I also did this several years ago on Sitmar ships. I had some friends that cruised to Alaska on the the Fairsea and we were able to go aboard before they sailed. I use to go to San Francisco and visit the ship when it would come in to dock. But as far as I know this is not allowed anymore because of security. Delores
pmfan Posted March 7, 2008 #7 Share Posted March 7, 2008 The only way I know that this could be done is if they were guests of the wedding party. Know anyone getting married on the ship?;)
