misika Posted July 26, 2007 #1 Share Posted July 26, 2007 We have been discussing this on our Roll Call for 8/1 Regal, but I thought I would post it here because more people would see it... Have any of you folks heard anything about the pending strike involving the Clerical Union and being supported by the ILWA union? Those of us on the August 1 sailing of the Regal from LA have made calls to Princess and have been watching the news, but it is very difficult to tell if it will affect us. Princess told me that they hire non-union workers and that the workers are different from the shipping/cargo workers, so that we had nothing to worry about and it wont affect us. Needless to say, I think most of us are worried anyway! So, if any of you have any information, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Cuizer2 Posted July 26, 2007 #3 Share Posted July 26, 2007 Today's latest on the dock strike from a local news radio station ... http://www.kfwb.com/pages/720670.php?contentType=4&contentId=721863 However, the cruise dock is separate from the container dock ... As you can see, the container cranes are not on the cruise dock.
Rickey 88 Posted July 26, 2007 #4 Share Posted July 26, 2007 Latest news this afternoon is that the ILWU and the port have come to an agreement and any threat of a stike has been averted......;)
Cruisin' Chick Posted July 27, 2007 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2007 That's what I heard too: that it has been averted. So now you can show at Ralphs, Vons and Albertsons (as grocery store strike isn't happening) and then go to the Port of LA or LB without having to cross any picket lines.
