You may have seen some of my other posts about our upcoming Thanksgiving week in St. Lucia. We are staying at a villa in the Vigie area. My question is do we need a rental car? Actually....2? We have 10 people. In looking at prices, it looks like 1 jeep or minivan for a week is going to run $500-600 not to mention the license & insurance fees. So, this seems very expensive and we are thinking that taxi and/or bus fare would be cheaper.

There are some places we'd like to go...thinking about going down to Marigot Bay for dinner at the Rainforest Hideaway, thinking of doing the Fish Festival in Anse La Raye. Of course some shopping at the markets in Castries. In looking through various excursions that we might do...snorkeling, ziplining, deep sea fishing, we have found we can be picked up to do these activities (for like an extra $5-10pp fee depending on where we are going). But, the dinner and festival may be a little trickier. Is there bus service anywhere we want to go? Price? What is the typical price for taxi fare from vigie to anse la raye or from vigie to marigot bay & back?

Finally, if you were staying a week, would you get a rental? Or rely on bus/taxi service w/some excursion pick ups here & there?
