Distance from Fort Lauderdale

How far is it from Ft. Lauderdale to the Port of Miami compared to flying into Miami itself? I only ask because it seems flights into FL are much cheaper than those directly into Miami. If flying in the day before cruising, would it be worth flying into FL, and then arranging for transportation to the Port of Miami?

Yes, it is worth flying into FLL and it is about 25 miles to Port of Miami. There will be other people doing the same. Have fun

It is a cheaper airport to fly out of. I had a quote of 150 to go to San Fran from Miami and only 98 from Fort Lauderdale.

If the savings is about 50 bucks per person or higher then take the FLL airport- Figure in transportation when you need to go from FLL to MIA round trip. We found flights to FLL and even with our limo we saved almost 100 bucks each= times that by 6 and we are talking some bucks. Our round trip limo costs 33 per person which included tip.

Thanks for the great info! We are thinking of flying into FLL for a Miami cruise for the cost savings as well.
