August/September Aloha Festival Events

Key dates for Big Island events:

Sat. Aug. 25 - Noon at the Volcanoes National Park - investiture of the Aloha Festivals Royal Court at Halema'uma'u Crater

Sat. Sept. 1 - 7:30 AM - Spencer Beach Park, Kawaihae - Royal Court ritual 'washing' in the sea

Sun. Sept. 2 - Sheraton Keahou Bay Resort - Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival

Mon. Sept. 6-Sun. Sept. 9 - Big Island Farm Fair (not really an Aloha Festival event - but fun anyway) Old Airport State Park - walkable from Pier - typical farm fair - 4-H livestock, rides, games, food, entertainment, etc.

Sat. Sept. 8, 7:00 PM - Hapuna Prince Hotel Falsetto Contest

Fri. Sept. 14 - 5 PM - 9 PM - Outrigger Keahou Beach Hotel - Couples Hula Competition

Sat. Sept. 15 - 12 PM-7PM - Great Waikoloa Ho'olaulea - Waikoloa Kings Shops - there will be crafts, music, food etc. at this and other Ho'olaulea- sort of neighborhood block parties in most locations - this one is a little more visitor oriented, though.

Wed-Thur. Sept. 19-20 6 PM - King Kamehameha Hotel (right at the pier) - Kupuna (elders) hula competiton - there are also crafts, arts & displays at this one.

Sat. Sept. 22- 10 AM - Waimea (Kamuela) Aloha Festival Paniolo Parade and Ho'olaulea - Pa'u riders, floats, bands, marching units and Royal Court, big craft fair, food booths from local churches and charities, live entertainment all day long

Sat. Sept. 20 - 4:30 PM - Hilo Ho'olaulea - music, food, arts & crafts

Sun. Sept. 30 - 10 AM - 4PM - Queen Lili'uokalani Festival - entertainment and performances by local hula halau.

Most of these are either free or low cost with purchase of Aloha Festivals Ribbon
