Tips about Kontiki Beach

Just returned from Kontiki so here are a few tips:

1) you can walk to the downtown shopping and catch the bus to the Breezes resort which is right next door to Kontiki for $1.00. Then walk back over to the bus stop accross the street from Breezes and catch the bus back to downtown for another $1.00. ( cab fare was 15 each way plus tip)

2) walk down the beach and get a better seat and sand. Don't know the names of the other resorts but they all connect.

The entrance was 3. p/p and 3. p/p for a chair. Drinks were 2 for a coke and 8 for a drink.

There are jet skis to rent and a scuba shop that takes groups out right from the beach. The beach is protected by a reef so the water is calm.

Hope this helps.

Can you give me more information on where to catch the bus to breezes. I would love to try the local transportation.

Kontiki, Wet and Wild, and Mambo are the three beach bars that flow into each other. When we were there, we found the best drink prices at Wet and Wild.

When you get off the ship there is a walkway that leads to the downtown shopping. Follow this and cross over the bridge. Everyone will be walking that way so that won't be to hard. Look for the information booth right as you cross the bridge. She will tell you where the bus picks people up. Its just down the street by the famers market but she can be more specific for you. Tell the driver you want to get off at Breezes. Then once you are off the Kontiki is a block down on the same side of the road. It is hidden though behind some construction. You'll find it. There is a girl sitting at the entrance to collect the fee to get in. Then on the return go to the bus park bench across the street from Breezes. THis will take you back to the downtown area. Oh, don't forget to flag the taxi so they will stop. They look like minivans, but they are the public transportation system for the area. Good luck.
