Box seats in the Royal Court Theatre on QV?

During her talk last week in NYC, Ms Marlowe mentioned the theatre box seating that will be available on the QV. The way she described it, if you get one of these boxes, you will be escorted from your table to the box by ushers as well as have access to a private lounge (I might have dreamed that, maybe someone else can confirm).

Soooo, I can only assume there will be a surcharge for this 'service' sort of like the charge for Todd English (love the food but it is available at one of the casinos up the road so I skip it when I'm onboard).

Can anyone hazard a guess at what the surcharge might be?

I'd assumed it was a Grill perk. I don't want to be escorted anyway - I'm capable of finding my own way.

If it isn't necessary to show you your seat at the Metropolitan, Royal Opera or Wiener Staatsoper, what makes Queen Victoria have such a sense of self importance?

Pointless if you ask me. As for the seats - first dibs to the top suites, then down the line. If I was in a Q1, and the standard is that normally now on board, I could do a good line in freebie passes!

Dear Morrie,

You were not dreaming!

We were on the QM2 this last April on a cruise that was named Cunard's President Cruise. Present & onboard for the entire cruise happen to be Carol Marlowe, Cunard President & CEO. My wife & I had the privilege to have had several opportunities to speak with Ms Marlowe.

During the cruise, the QM2 no less any other Cunard ship, has never docked nor tied up at St Thomas. Our cruise on that QM2 voyage, was the first time the QM2 docked at Crown Bay Dock. They had in the past, prior to our arrival, dredged the harbor entrance, now making it available for the QM2, QE2 and QV to tie up. She (Carol) was present at the very colorful ceremony on the Pier with the people of St Thomas, USVI.

One special and unexpected occasion during the cruise was to dine at Ms. Marlowe table in the Britannia Restaurant. I can't tell you what a thrill and experience it was to be one of several couples selected for that evening.

I also attended the talk in the Illumination Theater on the QM2 about the QV. This was the very first showing of the Presentation to the Public of the QV.

I did hear exactly what you heard. If you made a reservation for a Box Seat for an evening's preformance in the Royal Court Theater, you would be escorted directed to the Box by an usher from your restaurant (restaurant name not mentioned). I am not aware of the private lounge you mentioned. She did mention at our presentation, you would be given glasses of Champagne and also be presented types of appetizers and even plain or gourmet popcorn. Experience the theater in true Victorian Style.

At our presentation, she DID NOT mention at all anything about a Surcharge for this service. Your guess is as good as my. Is there a service charge? It is not also mentioned on the Cunard-QV site either.

Upon asking Carol, if there were additional copies of this presentation available, she was happy to give the DVD that was used at that presentation to me to keep. What a gift! I replayed it and there is no mention about a charge for this special theater feature.

We are also interested in trying the QV possibly in 2009 when she comes to the USA. 2008 she seems to be assigned to Europe. All hopes are she will cruise out of the USA (NYC) in 09.

Till someone else can answer that question, it's up to us to dream about it.

On another board I have read that it is an extra charge service open to all - it includes pre-theatre drinkies in the lounge.

Private boxes... will be open to everyone .....for a price. Cunard will offer a "post-dinner package" open to all. Guests who purchase this package will escorted to a private room for dessert then to their box where they can sip champagne (extra charge I'm sure) during the performance. They have not established a price yet.

I think the Grill Pax are already well served on the QV - what with their own private deck to themselves. BTW, are you still on the QV?

No - given the news of Queen Elizabeth 2 all monies short of bankruptcy are heading her way.

So unless I win the lottery before the final payment is due, I'll turn it in at that point.

Hold your breath - I'm feeling lucky for Friday!
