Newport switched to New London - HELP!

We are taking the Canada/NE cruise next Jul and will be in New London on the 4th of Jul. Will there be anything closed because of the holiday and will there be any celebrations at Mystic Seaport.

 

We're on this cruise too. Have you joined our roll call? Forgive me if you have. Sometimes everyone's usernames run together!!

There won't be any fireworks in New London or the Seaport on the 4th - New London always has theirs on the following weekend. Who knows they may do something special with the ship in.

As a Rhode Islander, I would just like to reiterate....if you are going to Newport, make sure you allow enough time to return to the ship. That particular w/e is a heavy traffic time in southern RI. There is a ton of very slow beach traffic if the weather is good, and it is also the move-in w/e for University of RI students in Kingston (southern RI), with all of it's associated traffic.
