snorkel/snuba/helmet and high blood pressure

We're sailing to the western carribbean on the grand princess on 11/24/07. I'm interested in maybe helmet diving or snuba--if it's not too deep. I also want to do some shallow entry snorkeling. I cannot dive because I can't clear my ears. I am taking low dose blood pressure medication. Will the medication be a problem if I'm not planning to go any deeper than 10-15 feet?

I won't have a problem, but I'm wondering if I'll need a note from my Dr. I did a search on this question, but they were all about diving, not shallow water stuff. Do you have to fill out a medical form to go shallow water snorkeling?

We cruised in the Caribbean on RCCL's Mariner Of The Seas in June 2006. I, too, take a once-daily, low dosage of high blood pressure medicine and am in good health. However, when I filled out the detailed:( release form listing the blood pressure medication and my age (58), they would not let me continue on with the excursion. Although I received a full refund on my Sea Pass Account I was very disappointed that I missed a fun morning with the rest of my family.

My SIL is a heavy smoker and did not enjoy the snuba experience because of breathing issues. My DB, who is very obese, had no problems and loved it. Each health issue is different so, bottom line, get a medical release from your own doctor before you go.
