Diva Onboard Posted August 7, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 7, 2007 Anyone know if the seas are rough or calm around the Mexican Riviera. Several years ago we sailed out of Ensenada to Hawaii and encountered very rough seas. We will be sailing this November from LA through around the Baja taking in the usual ports - Cabo, Acapulco, Hutalco. Please tell me what the sea conditions are for this area. AZlabs Posted August 8, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2007 Usually the first day out and the last day back are a little rough, but nothing to worry about. It is also a little cooler on those days. Have a great time.

I agree with the other poster - we just returned Sunday - no rough sea days but a little bumpy on Monday and Saturday - nothing bad. Good luck! suziehmkr Posted August 8, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2007 You can get rough seas no matter where you sail. We also hit rough seas on our way out to Hawaii... 12 ft swells and DH was in bed for one entire day. With that said, we hit 17 ft swells coming back in from Cabo on the Pride and DH was fine as long as he was in the casino. :p We have sailed the Mexican Riviera twice, booked for 2 more and read up on it often. The first day out and last day back will be our roughest IF you are to get rough seas. They WILL be cold no matter what time of year you sail, especially the last day while the ship hauls bootie back home. The rough seas are a crapshoot... but aren't entirely common and should you have them, they shouldn't be unbearable. Have a great time!!! Any cruise is a good cruise!:)
martinsfo Posted August 8, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 8, 2007 We were there in December and January. The seas were interesting our first afternoon out of San Diego, then calmed down by the next day. Crossing the Sea of Cortez from Mazatlan to La Paz, we hit some really rough seas! But it was overnight, so we just let the motion rock us to sleep.
