twister23 Posted August 22, 2004 #1 Share Posted August 22, 2004 After looking at the deck plans of the Splendour, I found out that our oceanview room is near the elevator (deck 2). Should I be concerned about noise?
B J Posted August 22, 2004 #2 Share Posted August 22, 2004 We have never been bothered by noise outside of our stateroom on an RCI ship, can't say that about Carnival though, we heard every thing our neighbors were saying while fighting and making up on both sides and the galley noise from above. Never again on Carnival!
bug18 Posted August 22, 2004 #3 Share Posted August 22, 2004 I had a room near the elevator on the Voyager a few years ago and didn't find it noisy at all. I actually preferred the convenience of being near the elevator.
HB Cruiser Posted August 22, 2004 #4 Share Posted August 22, 2004 I agree with Bug. Been on the Voyager within 2 cabins of the elevator and no noise at all. None from the elevators nor from passengers getting on/off them. Tim
dahirsh Posted August 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted August 22, 2004 I've got to agree with the above replys. Both my cruises were in cabins right near the elevators. No problems with noise. Deb
Maria65 Posted August 22, 2004 #6 Share Posted August 22, 2004 I stayed on deck 2 near the forward elevators on VOS last year. It was very, very quiet because there aren't a lot of people staying on that deck and zero through traffic as you can't walk from the front to the aft on deck 2. It doesn't show on the floor plans, but the cabins are down a hallway with a wall between the hall and the elevator area. It's not an issue and the convenience of being near the elevator is a plus. edited to add, I just reread your post and realized your on the Splendour, duh, not a Voyager class ship. sorry. rangerdog Posted August 23, 2004 #7 Share Posted August 23, 2004 We had a handicapped cabin on deck 2 on the Splendor and noise was NOT a problem at all!! Matter of fact, the location was GREAT (right next to the elevators and stairs) and noise was no problem at all. Just a couple of times, people who had been drinking too much, got off the elevators and made noise all the way down the hallway. So, not only the elevator rooms got noise, but the whole hallway did. The positives next to the elevator FAR outweigh the very few negatives. Hope you enjoy the location as much as we did.
RickT Posted August 23, 2004 #8 Share Posted August 23, 2004 I was in 3002 last year and NEVER heard the elevators. One of the quietest cabins I've ever been in. That far forward there wasn't a whole lost of ped traffic ever.

The Moyers Posted August 23, 2004 #10 Share Posted August 23, 2004 Because of a hip problem I have (and I'm too young to have a total done) we always book by the elevators so I don't have to walk so far. we have never been bothered by noise. AdrieneAGD Posted August 23, 2004 #12 Share Posted August 23, 2004 I asked this same question a few months ago when I realized that the room my TA had me booked in on the Mariner was right next to the elevators. I, too, was assured that noise wouldn't be a problem. I'll know for sure in 13 days! :D
