haggis Posted August 16, 2007 #51 Share Posted August 16, 2007 Great shot of the Forth Bridge this morning on the bow cam. Weather this morning is warm and sunny down South, forecast shows the same for most of the country this weekend. Glad to see your making a profit in the casino Shogun, thats a thing I seldom do. Happy cruising, Jimmy
spongerob Posted August 16, 2007 #52 Share Posted August 16, 2007 Shogun,A thought, what is the electrical current on the Grand, do they have facilities for using 220 v on board? Val You'll need a converter to US-standard 110V/60Hz.
Shogun Posted August 17, 2007 Author #53 Share Posted August 17, 2007 Hi Folks, We are rounding the north tip of Scotland as I type, captain is chatting just now telling us about what we can see out of the windows, great views of the main land and the isles. Formal night with captains party tonight, Edinburgh was great, first the weather it was warm for Scotland and it was dry. As to the Tatoo, just do it, you can not visit Edinburgh and not go if you get the chance. As to tendering it was great fun rough rough rough, great fun. As to sailing under the Forth Rail bridge , it is truly one of the worlds greatest bridges. need to go just now will chat latter. yours Shogun
qsuzi Posted August 17, 2007 #54 Share Posted August 17, 2007 Edinburgh is truly magical and we want to go back. It's great that you got to experience it! Looking forward to your next post. Have fun.:D
spongerob Posted August 17, 2007 #55 Share Posted August 17, 2007 Shogun, thanks for the updates. I thought this year's Tatoo was fantastic. My only disappointment was that the Russian band didn't play the end of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, it would have been awesome with the cannon firing from the castle. Someone missed a real chance to impress there.

Shogun Posted August 19, 2007 Author #57 Share Posted August 19, 2007 Hi Folks, Sorry for not chatting internet been down, only just came back tonight in Dublin. God did it rain in Greenock, but brave souls were still there to wave us off, pipe band played but where inside a big shed next to the docks. Could not get into Dublin this morning due to rough waters captain said could not risk it so waited out side port all day, until next high tide to get in, all day tours were cancelled. Did not get into town until 5.30pm so not much time. New the good news won a bottle of bubbly at the Captains Cocktail party. Last day tomorrow a sea day so will chat some more, have gone and booked another cruise but its well over a year away. yours Shogun
Chivalrygirl Posted August 19, 2007 #58 Share Posted August 19, 2007 What a disappointment almost missing Dublin. But these things just happen at sea, better to be safe than sorry as they say eh! Now Shogun have you managed to book me a dinner with the skipper on my sailing, I am sure he will be right chuffed to think he has a couple who have travelled so far to be with him :D

Spikesgirl Posted August 20, 2007 #61 Share Posted August 20, 2007 Thanks for posting, Shogun! made me glad we did the previous cruise on the Grand - The only day we had truly lousy weather was at sea. Dublin was one of our favorite ports and it would have been a shame to miss it. Like you, we truly enjoyed the Tattoo, along with being able to spend the day in Edinburgh - what a great old city. Thanks again! Charlie

rathgael Posted August 21, 2007 #64 Share Posted August 21, 2007 We were on the Grand at the Captain's Circle Lunch on Saturday when you were in Greenock----------we were so sorry for all the folk doing tours from the Grand as, has been said , it was raining so heavily all day, and Sunday was a good day here :o It was a lovely lunch and so nice to be on the Grand even just for a few hours, it brought back so many memories of our Sth American cruise on the Golden in February. There were 300 Scottish and English Captain's Circle members enjoying our day out on the Grand! So sorry you missed out on some of your time in Dublin

Shogun Posted August 22, 2007 Author #67 Share Posted August 22, 2007 Hi Colo Cruiser, Thanks, I enjoyed my cruise, weather could have been better, table mates could have been different, movies in the cabin could have been ones I had not seen before, Norway and Denmark could have been cheaper, but so what, casino could have been ..... you take what you are given and you make the best of it, I will be back with Princess again and again, if they keep delivering a value for money product, might not be the best but I am not ecpecting the best I am expecting Princess standards. yours Shogun
