Princess or HAL

We are in the process of booking our very first cruise for 2008 to Alaska. I have been reading these blogs for days and have gotten soooo much good information and tips from everyone.

 

My question is "What are the differences between Princess and HAL"? Which would you choose?

 

We want fly to Fairbanks and tour the land and then a 7 day cruise back to Vancouver.

 

Do they celebrate July 4th on the ships?

 

I appreciate any and all information and/or advice.

They both offer nice land packages as they have both been in Alaska for many years. I would first pick the itinerary that you like the most and see if that draws you to a particular cruise.
