The second paragraph deserves watching. It is too early to know if and when this system will develop, and where it might head, but if you are like us and sailing next week, then keep an eye on it.

Well, our weather man is scaring the hell out of us here in Louisiana. They keep showing the "long range computer models" and it insists that there will be a major hurricane in the Gulf by August 23. They've been talking about it for 2 days. Very nice. I'm having flashbacks of Hurricane Rita. We had to leave home for 5 days. I lost 5 pounds from the stress and I can't afford to lose weight!!

I hate this time of year.

Cruzfan34, I wouldn't worry too much this far out. Weathermen just l-o-v-e to latch on to even remotely possible weather events; they live for the drama!

We're boarding Crown Princess in NY on Sunday (heading to Grand Turk, San Juan, St. Tomas and Bermuda) and sure hope the TD in the far eastern Atlantic will not become problematic. With any luck it will make a hard right toward the north Atlantic and end up in that great hurricane graveyard. Here's hoping!

Let's hope you're right. The water is so warm in the Gulf, any hurricane that enters will only be fueled even more by it.
