Snorkeling Excursions for Beginners

My husband and I are taking the kids on their first cruise. We are going with Carnival to the Eastern Caribbean (Bahamas, St. Thomes, San Juan, and Grand Turk). Three of us have snorkelled but my son (he's 10 years old) is still scared but we are working on him. I was wondering if anyone could suggest any of the snorkeling excursions at these ports that are shallow reefs. I am pretty sure he would chicken out if he couldn't either touch bottom or be close to it. If there aren't any shallow excurions, how about any of the excursions at beaches that you can get good snorkeling off shore? Thanks

In St.Thomas, you can snorkel from the beach, right next to Coral World, so lots of fish. It's called Coki Beach, and they rent snorkel equipment at the beach.

Thanks for the info. I read about that beach and it sounded great. I will keep that in mind. Do you happen to know if the new "Reefs and Rays" excursion at Grand Turk is shallow?

Sorry, we haven't been to Grand Turk yet, but you could ask at the tour desk on the ship.
