Royal Palm hotel Miami

Has anyone stayed at the Royal Palm Hotel in Miami pre cruise with Princess. We really fancy the three nights on South beach but the hotel reviews on trip advisor sound horrendous. This is the only hotel used by Princess for the three night pre cruise from the UK so any feedback would be most welcome.

Stayed at Royal Palm 3-4 years ago, though it was not pre-cruise. Beautiful property directly on Miami Beach. Haven't read recent reviews but seemed to be 3-1/2 star hotel. I remember we were there in January and the swimming pool was almost too warm (it was heated obviously, and we weren't complaining). I do remember they charged a "resort fee" and I'll bet people are complaining about that. Otherwise we had a great vacation.

 

I'll say this: If you've never stayed on Miami Beach, you have to be prepared for older hotels and smaller rooms. And there are very few beachfront hotels so this is an excellent location for Miami Beach.
