Just booked our FIRST B2B ~!~

Even "old dogs" can experience new things.

We have free airfare to Miami (points that we need to use) and I did not want to do a Conquest size ship...but I wanted more than 5 days...so we booked the Imagination for our first B2B. (5 days each)

Same cabin...

oddly enough both cruises are 5 day, but they do different itineraries which is cool !!! We will get to go to Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay for the first time also...so lots of "firsts".

I am wanting to do this very thing because of the different ports in the 10 day b2b. Now I'm jealous:)

The Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau was the first cruise DH and I took. It was on the Fantasy before she went to N.O.

It is a great 5 day cruise. I didn't enjoy the offerings at Half Moon as much as I could now (just had my first tattoo and had to avoid water and sun:o).

Grand Turk was still suffering past hurricane damage 2 years ago but they were working hard to build a beautiful dock area.

It looks like the Destiny will be doing this starting sept 27th 2008

Yup... I am sort of bummed. We have a Cruise Critic Back to Back group cruise in Oct/Nov 2008, which was scheduled to be on the Imagination.... but it looks like it will now be on the Destiny... oh well, BALCONIES!! :D

Have fun LHP!

I liked the Imagination but I like the bigger suites better and think I am going to have to talk to DW about this:)

We were really looking forward to the Imagination, especially after the drydock, but I'm also looking forward to the Destiny as well, especially since there are balconies... I'm just excited about the back to back, regardless of the ship!! Come join us!

LHP, we'll be waiting for a review!! :D

I am going to review the pricing and see what happens when the dust settles from this change. I will follow your thread from the saints and sinners as to not hijack LHP thread anymore:D

Hijack away...I don't take up much room.

We are trying something new in 2008. We are only going to cruise in Jan. and then Sept - early December. So I will keep my eye out for the Destiny!

Can you walk me through the b2b process? Everything I found was the same iteneraries. I feel so stupid that I can't figure this simple act of planning out!!!

Can you walk me through the b2b process? Everything I found was the same iteneraries. I feel so stupid that I can't figure this simple act of planning out!!!

We found 2 cruises that run back to back with different ports quite by accident.

We have free airfare to Miami because of frequent flyer points (the attendants see my husband more than I do)...so I started looking for a cruise.

I saw the Imagination was available from that port, but we wanted more than 5 days if we were going to use 75,000 points (total)on airfare for the 3 of us. I am not a big fan of the Conquest class ships and the Imagination will have that new Water Works and Serenity Adult area by then...PLUS it is a ship we have not done before...so I said "why not?"

At first I thought about doing the Jan 24th and Jan 28th (which would have been a 9 day cruise)....but then I realized Jan 24th was the Motley Cruise (nothing against Rock...but I am just tooo old). So I decided to start with the 28th and check Feb 2nd. We would have done this even if the ports had been the same. We just lucked out that it alternates Eastern and Western on the 5 day cruises.

So I called my PVP. He made sure the same cabin was available for both legs of the trip. We have two booking numbers. One is actually more expensive than the other by $300.00....since Carnival wasn't running any specials in February for that ship.

I have never done this before. My PVP said he would mail me the B2B instructions. As I understand it from others who have "been there, done that and got the t-shirt"....since we have the same cabin...no packing up (yeah!)

I believe they will simply escort us off the ship, run us through the system with our new cards and walk us back on the ship. We are Platinum (this will be our 16 year old's 20th and 21st cruise), so any "waiting" will be in the VIP area.

It will be nice on the second leg to have 2 sea days and Jamaica (which will be a "sea day at port" for us). I have been cruised longer than 7 days...so I am going to have to pace myself. 2AM every night for 10 days will do me in!!!

YEAH for you on your BTB..................

You will get hooked..................

All ships are different when it comes to debarking, going

thru customs............

When I was on the Fantasy last Sept,,,,,,I had to get off and wait in

the VIP room.......I was told to be one of the last to get off...

waited about a hour..........

.....Also with the Celebration-2004 & 2005.......waited in VIP room...

On the Holiday a staff member walked off with me and afew others

that was cruising again,,met with the customs officer and got right back on the ship.....That was nice,to have the ship empty for awhile.....

WOW !! You have done a lot of B2Bs!!! With Miami being such a huge port and Customs there pretty tight....we are expecting the "wait an hour" in the VIP lounge version.

I see you are getting to cruise on the Celebration one more time before she departs in April. My boys are sad because this was their "first" back in 1998.

They have sailed on a couple of "retired" ships (Tropicale and Jubilee) but you always remember your first!!

We did our first B2B in February on the Liberty in FLL. We had the same cabins both weeks so we didn't have to pack up (nice) and were told to come to the Lobby area around 10 am. We waited there for about 15 min. (about 20 passengers). We were escorted off the ship, taken through customs and taken over to get our new s & s cards and went right back on the ship. It was great, we had our suits on and went right up to Lido deck pool and had the area all to ourselves for over an hour. Then we watch all the newbies come aboard. It was fun!

. . . as well as being able to enjoy the libations (aka booze) that you purchased on your first leg of the B2B. I like the term you use for your time at Jamaica - can I borrow that? I'm probably going to stay on ship as well.
