zhangf Posted August 21, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 21, 2007 I am planning the Alaska cruise in summer, 2008. As I search Cruises.com, I noticed there are three options: N/S Bound, Inside Passage and Tour and cruises. Does anyone have the experience on Alaska cruise, would like to give me some advise on which I should pick? any suggestions are welcome. This is the first time I am going to Alaska. Thanks. lvtotrvl1 Posted August 21, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 21, 2007 There are many different options for Alaska cruises. I would recommend calling an agent that is an Alaska specialist. Ask if they have cruised Alaska before, if so they should be able to help you with any questions you have and also give you some good recommendations. This is what a travel agent is for:) . takemewithyou Posted August 21, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 21, 2007 Alaska is a beautiful place and if you have the time, you really haven't seen a good part of Alaska until you go into the interior of the state. We did a cruisetour with Princess and flew first to Fairbanks and then went to Denali National Park and took the domed train down to Anchorage (?SP) and from there to Seward where we boarded the ship. I think the tour was 5 days and then the cruise from Seward to Vancouver was a week. I recommend doing the interior tour first because you are very active and constantly moving in and out of hotels. Once you get to the ship, you can unpack once and relax and rest from the first part of the trip. The cruisetour was all planned out by Princess and there were several options to pick from. We loved it:)
ssminnow Posted September 8, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 8, 2007 I went with my grandmother a couple of yrs ago it was on HAL out of vancover.7 day it was a fine cruise. you might look into cruising out of san francisco on a 10 day cruise you could add a vacation in the city. or try seattle 7 day sometimes if you are trying to save money you might see how cheep is it to get to your port of departure from where you live. I suggest you read the Alaska Board. You will get a lot of information there.
