Beaches in Crete?

Hello..

 

We are sailing next April on the Norwegian Jade and one of our stops in Iraklion, Crete. Having done a little research on this island, I believe we have decided to skip Knossos and try to head out to a beach. I have seen several pictures in Webshots of a beach in Crete that looks gorgeous. Not sure exactly where it is located in the island. Would it be something that we can take a cab to or will we have to rent a car?

 

Any help is appreciated!

You haven't said where it is so can't really answer your question so don't know if you can take a cab or not. Any more details? Crete has hundreds of beaches - some beautiful, others not so good.

The weather does not get warm until late may,but there are many beaches,either side of Heraklion,short cab or bus ride.

I don't know which beach or beaches are on the pictures in Webshots. I wasn't aware that there were many beaches.
