Where to stay pre cruise in Miami

Arriving a day prior to cruise. Don't know if I should book hotel thru cruise line or on my own. If I book on my own I guess I need to take a cab to port of Miami. It seems that if you book with cruise line transportion is included. Any advice would be appreciated thanks

We stayed at a Hilton Miami Airport near the airport down there (used Priceline, and got a really nice suite for about $100.00 three years ago), and really liked it.

 

Cab to the port is fairly inexpensive, although I don't recall specifically how much. It was the way to go though, as we didn't have to ride with an entire group of people.

Generally you can ALWAYS find a hotel cheaper than what the cruise line offers. Also the taxi to the ship is only 10.00. You don't need the cruiseline transfers.
