Cigar Dude Posted August 24, 2007 #54 Share Posted August 24, 2007 The only smokey place in the ship is the Casino & cigar bar. I'll be responsible for the cigar bar's smoke! :D :D :p ;)

jessemon Posted August 25, 2007 #61 Share Posted August 25, 2007 Ok, maybe its just the "newbie" status, but people seem very short on this board. I have friends that would take that comment as an insult. Just because they are not over 5' tall they should not be called short...they are little people. Please watch your wording ....someone might take it wrong......LOL;) ;) :p :p
ParrotRob Posted August 25, 2007 #62 Share Posted August 25, 2007 For those that have posted and said the TA and Carnival will do nothing, have you ever tried or spoken to either about this situation? I think I will give my TA a call today just to see her opinion and maybe conference in Carnival. Please tell us how your conference call goes/went. I'm not exactly sure what you expect since neither Carnival nor TA's even ask if you're a smoker or not, so they'll have no way of knowing what cabins have been recently smoked in or not.
victory2020 Posted August 25, 2007 #63 Share Posted August 25, 2007 I'm also very sensitive to smoke and react immediately when exposed. I've never had a problem with residual smoke in my stateroom upon boarding. However, I have (only a couple times) had the misfortune of being assigned a room next to a smoker and subjected to the smell during the cruise (room and balcony). I've cruised 25 times and this problem was the exception rather than the rule, but it can happen. This happened to me. I would wake up whenever they lit a cigarette(I walked by once when their door was open- they were sitting right up against the wall where our bed was). They were pretty much chain smokers when they were in the room. My sister had a problem with a room on HAL smelling like smoke. They changed curtains, pillows & all bedding in the room. jlewisinsyr Posted August 27, 2007 Author #65 Share Posted August 27, 2007 UPDATE: I spoke to my TA and she called Carnival while on the phone. Like those who posted, they could not guarantee that it would be a non-smoking room, but they were willing to note my record and put in a special request to ensure that extra care is given for smoke removal. cruzndiz Posted August 27, 2007 #66 Share Posted August 27, 2007 As a smoker I was quite interested to read all of the previous posts in this thread.....I also NEVER smoke in my cabin due to DH "hating" it but even as a smoker I find some areas of the ship to be smokier than others. I was surprised nobody brought up any other odors that might be found on the ship. Two cruises ago, I had friends on the Riviera deck and whenever I went down to visit their cabin the whole hallway had the aroma of smoke (of a different kind). Made for quite an interesting week! cruzndiz Posted August 27, 2007 #67 Share Posted August 27, 2007 What I also wondered .....why did nobody point out the cruise ship Paradise?? Is it still in operation?? That was supposed to be 100% smoke free.
caribbean dreams Posted August 27, 2007 #68 Share Posted August 27, 2007 What I also wondered .....why did nobody point out the cruise ship Paradise?? Is it still in operation?? That was supposed to be 100% smoke free. It is no longer smoke free. On the Paradise's 4 day cruises the Casino is non smoking but the 3 days is smoking in the same areas as any other Carnival ship. I have never had a problem.

cruzndiz Posted August 27, 2007 #70 Share Posted August 27, 2007 I smell that smell atleast once on every cruise i have been on.I have also seen Security find the smell and evict the tenants. Wow!!! We must have had some very lax security that time b/c the only acknowledgement of the situation was the last night when an announcement came over the shipwide intercom telling ppl to make sure they didn't have anything left in their suitcases in the a.m. that might be detected by dogs when coming off the ship
