JPO Posted August 24, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 24, 2007 We are booked on the Sep 08 Dawn San Francisco to Sydney cruise. Will we be able to access the Internet from the mid-Pacific and South Pacific? TIA
paul929207 Posted August 24, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 24, 2007 We sailed the Tahitian Princess from Papeete to Honolulu, last summer. We had internet access thru out the cruise. It was slow, but available.
JohnLauben Posted August 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 24, 2007 Internet and broadcast television access is sporadic, and at the mercy of satellite positions. From my own experience, satellite access is not to be relied on if you are more that 500 miles from the nearest land. (Just because there is no benefit to putting up a satellite if there is no one to use it.) As a rule, think of it this way ... if yesterday was a sea day, and tomorrow is a sea day, you will not have TV or internet access today. (Exceptions can and do occur ... use the 500 mile theory as a guide.)
