4 nights on the Sovereign - maybe solo?

I just called off my engagement but have already paid for our honeymoon cruise (yes, I paid for it!) I'm still planning to do the cruise as I desperately need a vacation. Hopefully one of my friends will be able to go with me but most of them are teachers and they have a hard time taking off in October. In case someone else can't go, I'd still like to go alone. Has anybody gone solo on the Soveriegn? What kind of onboard activities for a solo (besides the lovely poolside time I plan on having!)? What is dining like as a solo? Also, I'd reserved a Junior Suite, will RCCL give me any kind of cruise credit if I end up going solo?

I have gone solo on Sovereign and love the ship, although this was the only one that I got seasick on for one night until I took medication. Within a half hour I was feeling myself and sitting on the casino stool!:) I'm glad to hear you are still going even though your engagement is broken off. As for the dining, I don't mind eating by myself. In fact, I have never been given a bad table for two yet. The last time I was on Sovereign, I was seated at the window and watched the sunset every night. As for being alone, I really wasn't. I struck up a conversation with the family sitting next to me and turns out I graduated with her mom (out of a class of 104). Solo trips are what YOU make it. You can do things alone or be sociable and strike up a friendship with people onboard. Good luck and best wishes for a deserved vacation.

If you contact your T/A and change the jr suite from two people to one you might save a hundred or two. But if you down grade to an oceanview on this ship(to save even more $) you go from about 250sq ft jr suite with a 55-60sq ft Balcony of your very own to enjoy(at any time). To one of the smallest oceanview rooms still offered by Royal Caribbean @ 122sq ft(and yes that does include your bathroom)Dont get me wrong $ is $ but a nice place to call home for your trip can be priceless. I hope you do go and have a great time.:) You never know when someone special may walk into your life.:o

Hiya, My sister and I will be on that cruise so if you don't feel like eating alone or want to hang out with a couple of "old broads", we'll be happy to meet up with you at some point.

We've both been on that ship before and I think you'll have a good time.......usually very friendly people, good food, and lots to do or NOT do...it's always up to you. The private island we'll be going to, Coco Cay is beautiful!

GOOD LUCK and the offer is out there if you don't want to be eat alone.

Thanks everybody and thanks for the offer Sue! I actually decided to ask my aunt to go with me. She lives outside Tampa so no need to figure out flight arrangements, and I won't have to rent a car! We get along great, but she's the kind of person who will give me space and we can both do our own things when we want. I'm so excited now and can't wait to get away!

Just got back from this weekend cruise and never again. First of all, the weather did not cooperate for Coco Cay and we had a cruise day instead. It seemed as if everyone got trashed and, speaking of trash, it was everywhere literally. The food was sub-par, nothing I have had before with RCCL, very few "good" selections.

To top it all off, we were trapped in helacious waves the last night from early afternoon until morning before arriving at the dock. I was on the fifth deck and the waves were horrendous and we rocked and rolled all night long. I pitied the people who were on higher decks. I walked in the 10th deck hallway and I could hear the wind howling on my way to the gym. My roommate actually was very sick. Never, never again will I go on this ship, especially during hurricane season and never on a three nighter. Worst experience ever, sixth in two years.

I sincerely hope you have better luck than we did.
