Long Bay...... My Way

We are treveling with a group of 7 and I was thinking that we might save some money and just rent a 7 pass vehicle and drive to Long Bay ourselves. This looks like the best and prettiest beach. What can we expect for facilities when we get there? How bad/good are the roads?

In the pictures this looks like the beach with the most waves. Is that true?

We are renting from Hertz and I hope to drop off after they are closed to get the most out of the day.

Long Bay Resort has a resturant/bar on the beach front but that is it for facilities. The roads to get there are easy. Take the Blackburn Highway (Waterfront Dr. in Road Town) to Zion Hill Rd, over the mountain then left on the North Coast Rd.

The waves depend entirely on the weather off shore and the time of year. Apple Bay and Joshia's are the beaches the surfers prefer in the winter. There's usually not a lot of wave action in the summer.

It is a pretty beach but whether it's the prettiest is subject to each persons personal tastes. ;)
