sheallpet Posted August 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2007 Hubby and I are doing a Pacific Northwest cruise out of Vancouver down to San Diego in late September. HAL offers a Pub Tour in Victoria. While, we would like to take the tour, we don't necessarily want to be on HAL's schedule. We want to do some independent walking around, visit the BC Museum and maybe visit a couple (or one) pub - any pub suggestions?
insideedge Posted August 28, 2007 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2007 The Pub tours off the ship work as follows........you board a bus and are taken to 3 different pubs. They rotate about 8 pubs, so depending on space and availability will determen the 3 pubs that are chosen. Now you will get about 45 min in each pub to sample 3 local brews. Some of the pubs are brew houses (Spinnakers, Canoe club and Swans) and you will taste their brews. Others you will taste beer brewed on the Island. Now all this can be done on your own if time allows. A few great pubs in Victoria are. The Irish Times (On government an View) Swans (Pandora and Warf St.) (they brew their own beer) Canoe Club (Store and Fisgard) (they brew their own beer) Spinnakers (best way is by water taxi but you can walk) (also brew their own beer.) Now all these pubs are 5 min walk from each other exept Spinnakers that is 5min by water taxi that you can catch near Swans. At a cost of $4.00 each. Also it is a neat way to see the harbour. Hope this helps.
