MMoore1851 Posted August 28, 2007 #1 Share Posted August 28, 2007 I know it's probably NOT going to be a problem, but what happens if we don't use all the on-board credit we have built up? DH and I have received several Fun Ship Certificates, and have quite a nice sum waiting on us once we board. He's not a drinker, nor does he get massages, so I'd HATE to have to drink five margaritas per day and spend a lot of time in the spa! Hahaha!:D

Starfire_rules Posted August 29, 2007 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2007 I put a certain amount of cash on mine and I had some left over and they slipped me a check for the left over balance under the door the last night of the cruise.
sea_u_onboard Posted August 29, 2007 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2007 To the OP: If it's Fun Ship dollars any balance will be given to you via check the morning you depart. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - If it's OBC as part of a promotion (Book now and get $100 ship board credit) then you have to use it or lose it. As someone suggested make a withdrawal at the casino - they will charge you a 3% fee but hey at least you get something. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - If it's because you got a price drop and OBC was applied you are SUPPOSE to get that back - at least that's what I was told both times my price drops for the last cruise. On the morning of departure Carnival wanted to keep $435. of MY money. I say MY money because I had paid for the cruise in full so this was money that came out of my pocket. I knew talking with the purser desk would do me no good (and it didn't) so I called when I returned and told them I didn't have STUPID tattooed on my forehead and that I had been told twice the balance when be given to me. I even thought about withdrawing the money in the casino but we had all hit it pretty nice the night before and already had too much cash to take off. They processed my complaint and while it did take about 4 weeks for me to get the money I did get it. Lesson learned - If I ever get OBC again I will withdraw any excess from the Casino one the last night.

IKE Posted August 29, 2007 #8 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Any Shipboard credits, We received in the past, could be used towards anything on the ship including our prepaid gratuities. So You can apply any balance you have towards this or if you want to eat in the Specialty Restaurant, you can use your credit here also.
gemini61169 Posted August 29, 2007 #9 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Glad to hear any left over fun ship dollars will be returned. I'm going on a cruise in November and will be my honeymoon and as shower gifts we got quite a few gift certificates and was afraid they would not get used up. Thirsty Cruiser Posted August 29, 2007 #11 Share Posted August 29, 2007 Another point is you can cash the check at the purser's desk the morning you get it rather than wait until you get home and have to wait for it to clear, etc.

She may be a single mother on limited budget or something else and just lucky to be able to take a cruise period.
