How early do I need to book

Can anyone tell me how fast the port side verandah's book up on the Alaska cruise. I have been pricing and trying to book for summer of 2008 and it keeps telling me the cabin I chose is not available and suggests cabins on the starboard. I really want a port side as this is our first cruise and am willing to be a little flexible with dates in order to have port side.

Thanks for your help.

As soon as you find a port side cabin I would recommend booking. They do qo very quickly and as long as you are flexible on dates, you have a better chance.

Also you can reserve another cabin and waitlist for a portside....some may be on hold, others won't make it past final payment so your chances of getting one are much better!

Unless you're doing a one-way cruise, side doesn't really matter IMO. Yes, most of the time the port side gets longer viewing time at a glacier, but I am not going to be on a cabin verandah when at a glacier! :)
