martyap Posted September 1, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 1, 2007 I'm still confused. I need a one way to Rome from JFK. I found a fairly priced ticket directly from Aer Lingus via Dublin. I have also gone to the "search engines" Kayak and BT and found several other options. The Kayak site actually leads me to Airfare.com to finalize the purchase....not directly to any airline sites. Questions: 1. Better to go directly with Aer Lingus? 2. Are Kayak and BT safe ways to purchase? Any down sides? 3. Is one better than the other or doesn't it matter? Thanks, Marty

Thanks, Marty Get the ticket directly from Aer Lingus. You will save any booking fees AND you will definitely get a "published fare" ticket dealing direct with the airlines. You may get a "consolidator" class ticket booking with various agencies. If you want info on consolidator class tickets, read the sticky at the top of this forum. notentirelynormal Posted September 1, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 1, 2007 Kayak does not book tickets directly. They always direct you to other websites, be it the airlines or other travel websites.
