Ephraim Posted September 5, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 5, 2007 Are there any restrictions on where one may smoke in Montreal or Quebec? Just wanted to be prepared. Thanks. Yes. You can't smoke in most public places including all bars, restaurants and malls. You need to specifically ask for a smoking room in hotels (there is a regulated minimum percentage of non-smoking rooms.) You may not smoke on school grounds at all. And you must be 9m from a building doorway to smoke legally to ensure that others can easily enter buildings. They can allow smoking in public cafés as long as the awning is not permanent. You are best to ask if you can smoke.
martinimadam Posted September 5, 2007 Author #3 Share Posted September 5, 2007 Thanks, Ephraim. I'll double check with my TA to make sure she's requested a smoking room at the Ritz.
