wondering about Destiny cabin switch

My husband and I are booked for our first cruise on the Destiny, to the southern caribbean the last of Oct. We booked through a travel agency and our orginial cabin was 6352, in the rear of the ship. Today he called to say that Carnival needed to get permission to change our cabin to the Verandah Deck because there would be a party on the promenade deck and the noise may disturb us. He also said that it would be a upgrade. Looking at the deck plan now I can't see how it could be. Both are balcony cabins. I said ok to the change but now I'm wondering if I did the right thing. Is it common to move passengers when there is an event on the promenade deck? This agent originally had us on the wrong flight also. I'd appreciate any feedback.
