Baseball fan Posted September 6, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 6, 2007 I will be traveling with my parents on a cruise which begins in Venice. We are looking at the Sofitel Venezia but I am concerned about the distance we have to walk from the vaparetto stop with our luggage. My mother cannot walk long distances, escpecially pulling luggage. Is there a way to get a direct water taxi to the hotel? If so, does anyone know how much that would cost? If this hotel doesn't work, we are thinking of the San Marco area. Thanks
Susan-M Posted September 7, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 7, 2007 You can get to the Sofitel by taking a land taxi to Piazzale Roma and then walking a short distance (5 minutes) to the hotel. But there are some steps on a bridge over a canal so your mom may have difficulty with getting her luggage up and down the bridge. A land taxi to P. Roma would be a lot more economical than a water taxi ... perhaps you can hire a porter from the Sofitel to handle the luggage?
swisskris Posted September 7, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 7, 2007 The vaporetto doesn't go right to the hotel but you get take a water taxi but better to get the vaporetto to Venice and then taxi rather than a taxi right from the airport b/c they charges are extremely high.
