Ok... So... here is my cruising history:

1- 7 day cruise on RCCL

3 -4 day cruises on Carnival

6 - 7 day cruises on Carnival

We have never been on NCL. We sailed mostly carnival because we have a friend who works for carnival and we got amazing deals so we took a lot of last minute cruises.

We would be looking at a balcony room or one of the smaller suites possibly. Two people, ages 30 and 47.

This just came up this morning so I have started looking through the posts and will start reading reviews now etc. Also I love to read reviews but take everything in stride. I'm a very relaxed person and dont let other peoples negative experiences negatively influence my own vacation, but, we would like to get some ideas if any one is willing to weigh in...

We want to take an NCL cruise over the christmas period. These are the options:

Jewel - 9 days, Dec 21-Jan 4. We havent been to any of the ports it goes to. We wanted to do a 7 day, but if we do this one we get christmas AND new years on the ship.

Dawn - 7 days, Dec 23-30. We've been to St. Thomas but we liked it so its not a big deal about going back, we havent been to Samana, Tortola or Great Stirrup Cay.

Sun - 7 days, Dec. 22-29. We've been to Cozumel several times and wouldnt get off the ship, but spending the day on the ship isnt a big deal.

Sun - 7 Days, Dec 29-5. This is a little later than we wanted. But we havent been to any of the ports.

Thanks in advance for any advice. Its much appreciated.

oh by the way the jewel nine day portion is from the 21st to the 30th, to go to the 4th you have to do the 14 day portion which is the western extra five days, we are only doing the first nine, we did the sun last christmas and I can tell you about that one too, It was very laid back, we had an AD suite, the bathroom was huge and the veranda you could park a car on!

Wow, I think I would take the 9 day cruise on the Jewel, but the cabins on the Sun are a shade bigger. Neither will have cabins quite as large as Carnival. This wouldn't bother us either way and they are usually larger than RCI, depending on the ship. I haven't sailed the Dawn but have the other two: they happen to be my two favorite ships. I choose the Jewel for a couple of reasons, I like the casino better, the buffet is laid out better and the bathrooms are as nice as you get on mass marketed line, plus and this is a big plus for us: Blue Lagoon. it is just a coffee shop type of diner, but the food is wonderful and it is open 24 hours a day.

Hi LegalCat, piece-O-cake, Jewel, 9-day! Great ship, great itinerary and IMHO anything shorter than 9 days is way too short. Go for it and let us know what you decide.

Since you mentioned you're pretty laid back, you should truly love NCL and Freestyle!

Happy Sails!!
