Any experiences with Holiday Inn Express, Ft. Lauderdale Convention Center?

Anyone have any experience with this hotel? We're thinking of booking it for our pre-night in Feb.

Great location, walking distance to many shops and restaurants

stayed their 1/2006. No complaints, used airport shuttle with no issues. Hotel was clean, continential breakfest fine. Used a cab for $8 to port instead of dealing with many folks on morning of cruise.Close to anything that you may need.

Used Valuetrips.com this time for 1/2008. It's currently an Amerisuites. Its changing to a Hyatt 12/07. Got a rate better than the HI, about a block away.

Stayed there in 2005. The prices have increased since then. Would stay there again for a good price. It was clean, comfortable, included Continental Breakfast bar, and is near restaurants. Wish it had free shuttle to pier.

We stayed there April 2006. Good location, had free pick-up at the airport(just tipped the driver) and we took a cab to the ship for about $10.

Clean rooms and decent breakfast. Next month we are staying at the Hampton Inn Airport North location. Have heard alot of good things about it.

I can 2nd everyone's comments. We stayed there in Dec. 2007 for 1 night pre-cruise. The shuttle at the airport was prompt. Room was clean, included breakfast was basic but adequate. We took the $6 per person shuttle to the ship. Walgreens, Publix and many other shops are within easy walking distance.

We had dinner across the street at Georgio's (small family run restaurant - very good).

 

This year we are going to try Hampton Inn in Plantation.

Stayed here in April 06 pre-cruise. Good experience. If I remember correctly shuttled from airport and taxied to ship. Good Location too; very short walk to the liquor store (got a few pints for ""Seasickness"" protection) and ate at a good little tavern/restaurant called Drunken Jacks, or something like that. May stay there again for March 23rd cruise on Westerdam, but would like to pay less than $210 for the room. Easter Time is pricey!

Cab fare from the HIX to the port would be less then the $6 per person shuttle. Leave when you want, go directly to your terminal without having to stop at all the others. ;)

Thanks, had planned on grabbing a taxi anyway to go ahead and get there without waiting for a shuttle to fill up:) I never was good at being patient:p

Good to know the hotel is OK, after much debating I booked a night here in January before Enchantment. I will be taking a cab to the port as well. I like to get there on my own time and not wait for a shuttle.

We are staying at the HIX in March - this restaurant sounds like exactly what we would want! Thanks for mentioning it!
