woofas Posted September 15, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2007 We are going on this cruise in mid-October and prefer to "do our own thing" where we can. Can anyone tell me how easy it is to get into the city centres of Tunis, Marseille & Barcelona from the docks?
Andym Posted September 15, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2007 Can't comment on the others, but Barcelona is very easy. There is a shuttle bus that drops you off at the bottom of Las Ramblas, or plenty of cabs. I think we paid 12 euros for 6 of us in a large cab (people carrier). fern Posted September 15, 2007 #3 Share Posted September 15, 2007 Marseille & Barcelona are both very easy to "do" on your own. Usually there is transport form the dock to a central point in town. In Barcelona you will be taken to the Christopher Columbus monument which is at the end of Las Ramblas. From there you can use an open top hoponhop off bus or just walk. eating on Las Ramblas is expensive so leave the main street but best of all is the market on the left hand side of Ls Ramblas which has loads of cheap (and good) tapas bars inside. There is a charge for the port shuttle in Barcelona it is a return so keep the ticket. When we docked in Mraseille it was quite a long way out but there was a shuttle bus and then we went on the local tourist bus before exploring on our own. Enjoy, Fern:)
