ekeberg Posted September 16, 2007 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2007 We are going on a Pacific Northwest cruise in the spring and taking out 31/2 year old granddaughter with us. I do not want to take her huge car seat with us and I was wondering if I could get away with a booster seat for her age. She probably weighs about 30 pounds and all our ports are in the US and Canada. We would only need the seat for cab rides. Thanks Lynn
seattle2000 Posted September 16, 2007 #2 Share Posted September 16, 2007 I believe the WA state rules recommend a high-backed car seat for kids up to 40 lbs. All kids under 8 have to have a booster seat (at least until they are 4'9'' tall), and all kids under 13 must ride in the back seat. I don't know about British Columbia laws. We put our almost-4 year old (who weighs about 35 lbs) in a high-backed car seat, and will probably keep here there for a while, since she likes to rest her head against the side when she gets tired. In any case, you can do a web search to find the rules on this: check out http://www.800bucklup.org/ Hope this helps.

crusinmama06 Posted September 17, 2007 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2007 Nope, sorry booster seats (with no backs) are for 40lbs and 40" tall. My oldest was almost 6 years old before we could put her in a booster. ;) Children that age need a 5pt harness. I always post the one I have from Eddie Bauer for traveling. http://www.amazon.com/Eddie-Bauer-Portable-Bryant-Collection/dp/B000K53TFI
