madelinerose Posted September 17, 2007 #26 Share Posted September 17, 2007 Perfect! Thank you. (And those mornings sound wonderful!) You're welcome. Just hang the room service card on your door every night and you're all set. Enjoy your cruise and I love your avatar! ;)

Administrators Rare CC Help Michell Posted September 17, 2007 Administrators #28 Share Posted September 17, 2007 I have been debating taking the automatic tip off of our account right away. Don't get me wrong...I am going to tip, I would just rather tip accordingly. I will be giving out at least what was going to be automatically added on there. However, I am afraid of who might see this. I don't know if maybe the room attendant might observe this and assume we are not tipping and give us bad service. Does anyone know if this is the case? I know I could just adjust the totals at the end, but I think that would take more time. I would rather just go in and add a dollar amount to each service that I feel they deserve. Any thoughts.....?\ Thanks, On many lines when a customer eliminates the autotip, the people you tip in cash are required to turn over those cash tips into the pool anyway. They DO know -- it's been reported here quite frequently in the individual cruiseline boards (probably because the steward, etc. for that customer is asked about why/given a hard time). The method you suggest also tips only those with whom you have face to face contact -- I'm a BIG fan of the auto tip pool, which includes a lot of people you may never see, but who do make your trip more enjoyable. Just who does cook all that food, clean those public restrooms, wash all those towels, etc? I believe leaving the autotip alone IS tipping "accordingly" for basic services for which you would normally tip; what you leave above that for particular people is tipping "accordingly" to their extra services. Thank you for saying this. There is only one reason to void the auto tipping and that is when it is your intent to not tip. At least one cruise line does not allow the auto tip to be removed and most cruise lines are trending towards calling it a hotel service charge.
